Mr. Martin is Senior Counsel at Westfall Law and has significant experience in matrimonial and family law, civil and criminal litigation and personal injury litigation.  He is an Adjunct Professor at Syracuse University College of Law, teaching in the disciplines of civil trial advocacy and criminal law. 

Don served as a Captain in the United States Air Force, Judge Advocate General Corps, defending court martial cases in California and the Asia-Pacific area. 

After serving in the United States Air Force, Don was a litigation partner with Sargent, Sargent & Martin from 1974 to 1988, and was a co-founding partner of Martin, Martin & Woodard, LLC from 1988 to 2004.  After merging Martin, Martin & Woodard with the law firm of Harris Beach PLLC, Don was an equity partner in the firm’s general litigation practice with an emphasis on personal injury defense, insurance defense and matrimonial and family law litigation.  In 2018, Don continued his career as a sole practitioner prior to joining Westfall Law.  As of 2017, he has twenty-seven consecutive years Peer Review rating as an AV/AV Preeminent® by Martindale-Hubbell. 

His professional and community activities include a past/current member of the American, New York and Onondaga County Bar Associations and lecturer for continuing legal education with the New York State Bar Association.  He is a past treasurer of the United Way Finance Committee and Investment Committee, a past member of the Board of Directors of the Syracuse Community Health Center Foundation and the Board of Directors of the Museum of Science and Technology.  Don currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation.
